Randwick Race 6 – G2 Premiere Stakes – 1200m
#1 Masked Crusader – $2.50
I’m willing to forgive the last start where it was nearly impossible to run on and make ground out wide. He’s always slow to begin but with a good speed up front and T Berry, who knows him well, back in the saddle – he’s the one to beat.
Randwick Race 7 – G1 Flight Stakes – 1600m
#8 Von Trapp – $21/$5.50
Typically open fillies race. Last start, Von Trapp went around big odds in the Tea Rose behind a few she meets again today, where she got held up in the straight and found the line really well. Draws awkwardly again but she looks right up to this company. Over the odds and keen to play each way.
Randwick Race 8 – G1 Epsom – 1600m
#6 Hungry Heart – $8 & #10 Aramayo – $12
It might not be the greatest Epsom but it is certainly wide open! You could do worse than just take a Chris Waller boxed trifecta but I’ll be on these two of his. Hungry Heart has to give weight to Riodini from last start but she looks to have a lot more upside fitness-wise being 3rd up compared to Riodini being deep in a campaign. Aramayo has had a flashing light on it last two starts and is another who looks set to peak 3rd up.
Randwick Race 9 – G1 Metropolitan – 2400m
#9 Attorney – $18/$5.50 & #17 No Compromise – $15/$4.50
Another wide-open handicap! Attorney had a long spell before two solid runs back, especially last start when finding the line well. Has to concede weight to a few but will take enormous benefit from last start and gets J Mac on – ready to peak. No Compromise has been up a while but gets in light and looks a genuine stayer. Absolutely no luck last start and sure to run well at the weights.
Flemington Race 7 – G1 Turnbull Stakes – 2000m
#4 Verry Elleegant – $2.35
The highly anticipated match race between Incentivise and Verry Elleegant. Challenger v Champion. I’m in the champion mares corner as she looks ready to peak 3rd up at 2000m whilst the challenger may be a little vulnerable only 2nd up 2000m. Should be a cracking race! Who are you with?
NRL GRAND FINAL – Sunday
Penrith Panthers ($1.74) VS South Sydney Rabbitohs ($2.35) – Suncorp Stadium
Considering the Bunnies win in week 1 of the finals over the Panthers, there looks to be some value about Souths. The Panthers have had a few gut busters in the lead up to this and it was no different last week when narrowly beating the Storm. The Bunnies on the other hand cruised past Manly and had the game wrapped up a long way from home. I’ll be backing old Wayne and the Bunnies to win.
Clive Churchill Medal
I like Damien Cook, he’ll be in the thick of things in the middle of the field where I expect this game to be won. He can test some tired forwards with his speed late in each half and looks set to make a million tackles (maybe not that many but you get my point).
Minnesota Vikings ($2.05) VS Cleveland Browns ($1.77) – U.S Bank Stadium, Minnesota
Cleveland ranks 2nd in early down success while the Viking’s defence sits near the bottom. Whilst the Vikings will have few answers to Cleveland’s offensive line, their QB, Kirk Cousins, is off to a hot start in 2021 throwing 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Keen on the over 51.5 @ $1.90 total match points as both teams should see plenty of the end zone. Cheer points!
