AFL Round 15 – Punt Club

AFL Round 15

June 24, 2021

Round 15 looks like separating the contenders from the pretenders and we should get a decent guide on a few sides on their path to finals footy.

Don’t forget Ladbrokes are offering a $2 line for tonight’s blockbuster and Friday’s clash. Get amongst it!

Thursday

Brisbane Lions ($1.68) VS Geelong Cats ($2.20) – GABBA

Now this is a cracking way to start the round! Geelong won what was arguably the game of the season last week when downing the Bulldogs with a goal after the siren. Brisbane were lacklustre when overcoming North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena but back to the ‘Gabbatoir’ I expect them to be up for this. These two played in a controversial game earlier in the season that was decided on the siren and this looks no different.

Suggested Bet – Tribet 1-15 – Either team to win by less than 15.5 points @ $2.50

Friday

Richmond ($1.20) VS St Kilda ($4.50) – MCG

Footy returns to the MCG albeit without the usual fanfare. The Tigers suffered a narrow loss last match when conceding a last minute goal. The Saints blew a 36-0 lead to Adelaide in their latest fixture and it is hard to see the struggling Saints covering the line.

Suggested Bet – Richmond -26.5  @ $2

Saturday

Collingwood ($1.65) VS Fremantle ($2.25) – Marvel Stadium

Collingwood farewelled Nathan Buckley in style when accomplishing the surprise of the season when downing Melbourne and although Darcy Moore suffered a season ending injury, they look likely to welcome back Brodie Grundy. There was a lot of emotion involved in their last fixture and if they can overcome that, they look likely to cover the line against a Fremantle side on the road.

Suggested Bet – Collingwood -5.5 @ $1.90

North Melbourne ($1.65) VS Gold Coast Suns ($2.25) – Blundstone Arena

Battle of the cellar dwellers with 18th taking on 16th on the ladder. North Melbourne play their third consecutive round in Tasmania and that looks to be a significant advantage. The Suns were woeful last week and travelling down to Tassie is unlikely to help.

Suggested Bet – North Melbourne -5.5 @ $1.90

Port Adelaide ($1.35) VS Sydney Swans ($3.20) – Adelaide Oval

Port get the advantage of paying at home but the loss of Robbie Gray only exacerbates their already significant injury toll. The Swans have to travel, are coming off a bye and were awful when suffering defeat to Hawthorne, but the week off might do them good and they can be competitive.

Suggested Bet – Sydney Swans +20.5 @ $1.90

Essendon ($3.90) VS Melbourne ($1.26) – MCG

Essendon will be looking to test their credentials for a top 8 finish against a Melbourne side who came out of the gates running but have suffered two defeats in their last 4 matches. Melbourne come off the bye and I’m tipping Essendon to be very competitive here.

Suggested bet – Essendon +23.5 @ $1.90

Sunday

GWS Giants ($1.60) VS Hawthorn ($2.35) – MCG

GWS flogged Carlton last week and they sit just outside the top 8 but I’m tipping the Hawks to test the Giants. Hawthorn suffered a narrow defeat to Essendon last round and I think that form can stack up here.

Suggested bet – Hawthorn +7.5 @ $1.90

West Coast Eagles ($1.75) VS Western Bulldogs ($2.10) – Optus Stadium

Cracking game, I don’t have much between them but fancy the homeground advantage for West Coast might be the deciding factor. We should get a good guide as to how both these sides are tracking in the run to finals footy. At home, I lean to the Eagles.

Suggested bet – West Coast Eagles -3.5 @ $1.90

Carlton ($1.55) VS Adelaide Crows ($2.45) – Marvel Stadium

Not much between these two on the ladder and doubt their will be much between them in this clash either. I fancied Carlton against the Giants last week, but Carlton were…Carlton…Crows at the plus.

Suggested bet – Adelaide Crows +11.5 @ $1.90
