AFL Round 22 – Punt Club

AFL Round 22

August 13, 2021

2 weeks away from finals footy and with a bit of luck, we’ll get to the end of this weird and wacky season. PLEASE!

As usual, Ladbrokes are offering a $2 line for tonight’s clash between GWS and Richmond. Let’s go!

Friday

GWS Giants ($2.15) VS Richmond ($1.70) – Marvel Stadium

GWS will be without Toby Greene who failed to have his appeal against a suspension overturned, his loss will be hard to overcome. Richmond have been below their best and sit 2 points below the Giants, but I have them marginally on top.

Suggested Bet – Richmond -6.5 @ $2

Saturday

Hawthorn ($4.50) VS Western Bulldogs ($1.20) – University of Tasmania Stadium

At the time of writing this game is being played in Tassie, which I think is advantageous for the Hawks. The Bulldogs haven’t been too convincing of late and they suffered a defeat at the hands of Essendon last week. Hawthorn are looking for 3 wins on the trot and can test the Dogs in this, not sure they can win, but happy to take the start.

Suggested Bet – Hawthorn +27.5 @ $1.90

Geelong Cats ($1.22) VS St Kilda ($4.25) – GMHBA Stadium

Looks like Dangerfield and Cameron will line up and surely the Cats won’t lose 2 in a row at Kardinia Park…St Kilda managed to upset an in form Sydney Swans last week, so the Cats will need to turn up ready to play, but with troops back I expect them to turn things around again.

Suggested Bet – Geelong Cats -25.5 @ $1.90

Port Adelaide ($1.13) VS Carlton ($6.20) – Adelaide Oval

The Power will be playing for a home qualifying final and will be keen to put a struggling Carlton side to the sword. Harry McKay has been ruled out of this clash and without him, the Blues look set to struggle after losing to the Gold Coast last week.

Suggested Bet – Port Adelaide -35.5 @ $1.90

Brisbane Lions ($1.10) VS Collingwood ($7.25) – Gabba

Lachie Neale missed the Lions triumphant win last week due to illness and his return, as well as returning to the Gabba, should see the Lions win well against a Collingwood side that sits 16th.

Suggested Bet – Brisbane Lions -38.5 @ $1.90

North Melbourne ($2.85) VS Sydney Swans ($1.42) – Marvel Stadium

Interestingly, the last four matches between these clubs have seen a winning margin under two goals. Sydney were shock losers to St Kilda last week and the Roos gave up a 26 point lead when losing to Richmond.

Suggested bet – North Melbourne +14.5 @ $1.90

Sunday

Melbourne ($1.07) VS Adelaide Crows ($8.50) – MCG

Unless you live under a rock, you will be aware that Adelaide’s leading goal scorer, Taylor Walker, will be absent from this game. Melbourne are looking to lock in their first minor premiership since 1964. They’ll win well.

Suggested bet – Melbourne -43.5 @ $1.90

Gold Coast Suns ($3.50) VS Essendon ($1.30) – GMHBA Stadium

Essendon managed to keep their top 8 hopes alive with a 97-84 victory over the Bulldogs last week. The Suns overcame Carlton but they will face tougher opposition here against a side they haven’t beaten since 2016 and never beaten in Victoria.

Suggested bet – Essendon -21.5 @ $1.90

Fremantle ($2.85) VS West Coast Eagles ($1.42) – Optus Stadium

Cracking way to finish the round with a battle in the west. Fremantle haven’t beaten West Coast in their last 12 encounters and with more players on the sidelines, I’ll back West Coast to make it 13 straight.

Suggested bet – West Coast -14.5 @ $1.90
