It’s pretty black and white in the SA Derby

May 8, 2020

Still not much happening in the world of sports trendsetters. We learned that some anti-vaxxers are actually pretty hot, and how the NZ Warriors had flown into Oz and were going straight to quarantine. The ISO story was pretty light on detail – at least we could have had a breakdown on what food they were served during the flight, and what movie they watched.

As per the pic below, we were made aware that “Iron” Mike Tyson is looking at making a comeback and several ex-professional sportsmen from Australia have put their hands up to fight him.  Two things stuck out from our end:

1: If you volunteer, it proves you had WAAAAY too many hits to the head during your career

2: 2 comes right after 1

The Punt Club Crew

More G1 racing in Adelaide this week with the SA Derby the feature event, and the crew here will be all over No.4 Russian Camelot. This shapes as his toughest test, but 2 wins from 4 starts including a 7 length demolition last start in Vic says he can handle it. Get amongst him at $4.00.

Our value bet of the day is R5, No. 14 Monteferrante. Won fresh to start this prep, and went real close last start at Balaklava. Steps up to 1800m here and with a cracking jockey on board, the $8.00 gets our attention.

SA Derby Day – Morphettville

R1: 3 Garvoc – Has won here and comes in off a freshen up and handy trial ($4.20/$1.60)

R2: 7 Ecumenical – Cracking form at this track and will get a hat-trick here ($2.35/$1.26)

R3: 1 Aiguilette – Third up here and screaming out for the 1400m ($8.00/$2.80)

R4: 10 Almadrava – Led all way last start on a soft rack for a solid win and can repeat here in an open race ($3.50/$1.45)

R5: 14 Monteferrante – Close last start at Balaklava and third-up here over 1800m should be ideal ($8.50/$2.90)

R6: 6 Kooweerup – Handy gate and form in Melbourne tick the boxes ($3.10/$1.40)

R7: 10 Tequila Time – Has a handy record here and has the speed to overcome the wide draw ($5.50/$2.15)

R8: 4 Russian Camelot – Cracking win last tart in Vic and this sets up to be ideal for him ($4.00/$1.50)

R9: 4 Seemingly Discreet – Should be sitting off-speed and come over the top for 5 on the trot ($5.00/$2.00)
