NRL Round 21 – Punt Club

NRL Round 21

August 4, 2021

Few weeks out from finals and the top 6 all play each other, is the premiership race all over, or does this whacky season have more surprises?….Ladbrokes have their usual $2 lines for Thursday night’s clash and Friday’s double header from Cbus Super Stadium.

Thursday

Newcastle Knights ($1.28) VS Brisbane Broncos ($3.70) – Suncorp Stadium

Both teams lose their Hooker and Brisbane will be without star centre Kotoni Staggs. The Knights welcome back Pearce and his inclusion can see the Knights cover the line in this. Brisbane are likely to leak points and not sure they have the attack to keep up.

Suggested Bet – Newcastle Knights -12 @ $2

Friday

Canberra Raiders ($1.28) VS St George Illawarra Dragons ($3.70) – Cbus Super Stadium

The Dragons will be without the injured Ben Hunt and they look a complete rabble without him. The Raiders were woeful after being pretty good the week before, and I have no faith in them turning up either. There aren’t many attacking weapons but defence will be optional. Both to leak points.

Suggested Bet – Total Match Points Over 50.5 @ $1.90

Parramatta Eels ($3.25) VS South Sydney Rabbitohs ($1.33) – Cbus Super Stadium

Parra looks like getting Moses back but will be without RCG, his loss will be heavily felt as he is crucial to their forward rotation. The Bunnies have coasted through games without being at their best, expect Wayne to have them firing on all cylinders for this. Murray a big inclusion.

Suggested Bet – South Sydney Rabbitohs -10 @ $2

Saturday

New Zealand Warriors ($3.35) VS Cronulla Sharks ($1.32) – Cbus Super Stadium

The Sharks got ‘Turbo’d’ by Manly and can turn things around quite quickly here. They actually finished the game off well after the great man had a spell. The Warriors were flattered last week, and whilst they get some troops back, I’m not sure they can go with the Sharks.

Suggested Bet – Cronulla Sharks -9.5 @ $1.90

Sydney Roosters ($3.35) VS Penrith Panthers ($1.32) – Suncorp Stadium

The Roosters have even more injury woes with the loss of vertarn Josh Morris. The Panthers will find this easier than the Storm last week but I’m not convinced they are firing without Cleary. The Roosters still have plenty of strike power in their backline and a pack that can go with Penrith.

Suggested bet – Sydney Roosters +9.5 @ $1.90

Manly Sea Eagles ($3.50) VS Melbourne Storm ($1.30) – Suncorp Stadium

This is the game of the round. It all boils down to whether or not Melbourne can contain Turbo, you would think they can, but he has dominated in Origins as a marked man. It’s all well and good for Turbo to destroy the Sharks, but to be the best in the game, you have got to beat the best. I’m backing him to have another big one.

Suggested Bet – Manly Sea Eagles +12.5 @ $1.90

Sunday

Canterbury Bulldogs ($2.70) VS Wests Tigers ($1.46) – CBUS Super Stadium

I’m not sure many will be tuning into this one…Defence will be the focus for both sides but I’m not sure either are going good enough to execute a game plan. Not like there are attacking weapons out there and I’d normally be keen on the unders, but with the end of season looming, I’m expecting more attacking footy than usual and plenty of points.

Suggested Bet – Total Match Points Over 52.5 @ $1.90

Gold Coast Titans ($1.30) VS North Queensland Cowboys ($3.60) – Moreton Daily Stadium, Redcliffe

Should be a decent contest. Expecting Fifita to start from the bench again and be injected late in the first half. The Titans are pretty awful without him and that give the Cows a chance to start fast. Should be plenty of points, as both teams despise tackling, and expecting it to be close.

Suggested Bet – Doubles Markets – Cowboys +11.5 / Over 55.5 points @ $4
