Plague, plague go away and don’t come back another day!

July 15, 2021

Randwick race 1 – Open Handicap – 1400m
#4 Tympanist – $12/$2.60

We’ll look to kick the day off with a double figure winner in Tympanist. He comes into this 4th up and gets JMac, he won well last start and looks to get the right run in transit. Looks over the odds and one we can back on a 1 x 3 basis (more the place).

Randwick race 4 – BM78 Handicap – 1800m
#8 La Chevalee – $2.40

This mare gets out to the 1800m for the first time and that looks ideal now that she’s fully fit 5th up. Gets the inside gate, JMac and a race devoid of winning chances. Should get the run of the race and every possible chance. Good jockey, good trainer – good bet.

Randwick race 9 – BM78 Handicap – 1400m
#10 Exotic Ruby – $8.50/$2.80

I’m starting to sound like a broken record – J Mac jumps on board today and the kiwi connection of J Mac/B Baker is striking at 28.6% with a PoT of 17.7%. So just backing this jockey/trainer combo will see you return profit in the long run. This mare has been racing well and if J Mac can find some cover early, she looks a great each way bet at odds.

Eagle Farm race 3 – Class 3 – 1000m
#5 Power Boom – $8/$2.70

She’s having her first start in the Sunshine State and if her trial at the Gold Coast is anything to go by she will be hard to beat in this. The draw is a little tricky but Jimmy Orman is riding in tremendous form and if he can weave some magic early and find cover, Power Boom can go BOOM and grab them on the line. Her first up stats read 4:3-1-0 and I’m backing her to improve on that here at good odds.

Flemington race 7 – BM84 Handicap – 1000m
#10 Dirty Thoughts – $3.30

This 3YO Filly comes into this fresh after showing plenty of ability last prep culminating in a close defeat behind Swats That. Jamie Kah takes the steer and that seems a good push to her running well. Most of these have well exposed form and this looks the one on the up. In we go!

Canberra Raiders ($2.10) VS Cronulla Sharks ($1.72) – CBUS Super Stadium

There’s rumours around that Shaun Johnson is carrying a knee injury (he didn’t kick for goal last week) and I have to question how well the Sharks will perform with the relocation to QLD. The Raiders were shock winners against Manly last fixture and they might have shrugged off their early season woes. Up the milk!

Suggested Bet – Canberra Raiders @ $2.10

Brisbane Broncos ($1.72) VS Wests Tigers ($2.10) – Suncorp Stadium

It’s a funny old game Rugba Leeg. Brisbane looked dead and gone a few weeks ago but with the return of Katoni Staggs, playing at home, and the appointment of Ben ‘Hitch’ Ikin – they look to have turned a corner. They can do a number on a Tigers side that might not turn up at all.

Suggested Bet – Brisbane Broncos -2 @ $1.90

Fremantle ($2.02) VS Geelong Cats ($1.80) – Optus Stadium

So far this season Fremantle have only beaten 1 team in the top half of the ladder. The Cats weren’t convincing but they got the job done against Carlton last week. The last time they met here Geelong won 48-16 and I’m backing them to win again.

Suggested Bet – Geelong Cats -2.5 @ $2

Gold Coast Suns ($4.10) VS Western Bulldogs ($1.24) – Metricon Stadium

The Suns have managed to string two wins together now in unlikely fashion. You can’t knock their effort at the moment and hosting the Western Bulldogs, who have dropped 2 from their last 5, I think they can be very competitive again. Let’s go Sunnies!

Suggested Bet – Gold Coast Suns +24.5 @ $1.90
