Leading the charge with a 3 unit play on Canberra he has exposed all the weaknesses in their odds. It’s a battle out there but the Guru has got your back and plans to pillage and plunder a small fortune for the punters in round 17. Oorah!

NRL Round 17 Match Previews

Brisbane Broncos vs Penrith Panthers

Assessed Line: Broncos +20.0

Ladbrokes: Broncos +22.0

The Panthers continued their sublime run with an 11th straight win last week, in a match that was even more impressive than the 24 point margin would indicate. They should easily account for a Broncos side that has managed only 1 win from their last 14 matches. However, Penrith may have an eye on next weeks big clash with Parra and be lacking some intensity for this one. With Haas and Oates returning, Brisbane are worth a value bet at the big plus. Guru has been sucked in AGAIN!

Newcastle Knights vs Cronulla Sharks

Assessed Line: Knights -2.5

Ladbrokes: Knights -1.5

7th plays 8th in a must win match for both these teams as they look to avert any pressure from the chasing pack, most notably the Warriors. Both sides have been plagued with inconsistency throughout the year and it’s highly doubtful either of them can win the comp, but one of them has to win this week and I’m predicting Newcastle. Despite Chad Townsend’s return, Shaun Johnson remains on the sidelines and this tips the scales in favour of the Knights, who will lift back at home after an ordinary display last week.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Melbourne Storm

Assessed Line: Rabbitohs +3.5

Ladbrokes: Rabbitohs +4.5

Souths have won 5 in a row, the last 2 very impressively, but now must face a clinical Storm team who just continue to get the job done. The return of Johnston and Gagai somewhat offsets the loss of Latrell but without their X-factor, doubt surrounds whether the Rabbitohs can go to that next level required to beat the Storm. Melbourne completely dominate this matchup having won 27 of their 32 encounters and the bookies are expecting that trend to continue, installing them clear favourites. However, it’ll be closer than what they think and Souths are worth a small play at the plus.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Gold Coast Titans

Assessed Line: Bulldogs +0.5

Ladbrokes: Bulldogs +1.5

Another week goes by where the Bulldogs are desperately trying to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder. And thanks to both the Broncos and Cowboys continued poor form, they have been teased by that 1 elusive win for over a month now but just can’t seal a victory. They showed an improved effort against the Raiders but yet again they let a winning lead slip away. Gold Coast are in that “No Man’s Land” area where they can’t make the top 8 but have realistically avoided the wooden spoon. No confidence or edge to bet in this one.

Manly Sea Eagles vs Wests Tigers

Assessed Line: Sea Eagles -4.0

Ladbrokes: Sea Eagles -3.5

Two teams battle it out on Saturday evening to keep their top 8 hopes a “mathematical possibility” but not even Sir Isaac Newton could take the odds on offer about that happening, even if an apple fell on his head and knocked him senseless! While Pythagoras is sticking with his theorem that Tigers = 9th. However, it’s not rocket science to work out that this is an awful match and at least the loser can finally be put out of their misery and start concentrating on next year. That should be the Tigers and Manly are worth a speck at the current odds.

Canberra Raiders vs Sydney Roosters

Assessed Line: Raiders +3.5

Ladbrokes: Raiders +6.0

Undoubtedly the game of the round on Saturday night with a potential top 4 spot on the line adding further incentive to the much anticipated Grand Final rematch. Canberra gained revenge earlier this year 24-20 and will be keen to make it a clean sweep in 2020. The Roosters outclassed the Broncos last week and welcome back key playmaker Keary but face a much sterner test in Canberra against an in form Raiders outfit. This will be a hard fought and intense contest likely to go down to the wire. Sonny Bill Williams adds some intrigue to the match but little else and the Raiders are the BET OF THE ROUND.

New Zealand Warriors vs Parramatta Eels

Assessed Line: Warriors +5.5

Ladbrokes: Warriors +6.5

Everyone’s second favourite team, the Warriors, are making a late charge for the finals whilst the Eels are feeling a little slippery as they potentially slide out of the top 4. Todd Payten has been a revelation for NZ who have now won 4 of their past 5. The Eels have struggled both offensively and defensively in the last 5 rounds and will need to rectify this quickly if they are to beat the Warriors on their favoured Central Coast turf. Both teams have been evenly matched over the years and I see no reason for this to change. An in form and confident Warriors side worth a play at the value odds.

North Qld Cowboys vs StGeorge/Ill Dragons

Assessed Line: Cowboys +2.0

Ladbrokes: Cowboys +3.5

Another two teams that have been evenly matched throughout their history in the NRL and amazingly they have BOTH won a Grand Final in the past 10 years! Mind boggling really. Unfortunately in 2020 the only common theme for these clubs is a sacked coach and a hatful of losses. At least one of them is guaranteed a win this week. Definitely not one for the ages, but back at home the Cowboys will give this match a real shake and are the value to finish off a huge round of punting.

Good luck and great punting,
